Spanish archaelologists, José María (Aleix Albareda) and his sister Mercedes (Ivana Miño), travel to Mexico to investigate the Virgin of Guadalupe. While José María consults specialists on the phenomenon, Mercedes joins her friend Diego (Fabían Robles)-"Chase 406") in a pilgrimage to the Basilica. Through these travels, they learn about the culture and the traditions of Mexico.

The story of the native Mexican of the sixteenth century, Saint Juan Diego (Jose Carlos Ruiz) and his encounters with the Virgin are linked with that of Jose Maria who abandons his wife and children, and Mercedes, who is granted a place and a family.
